Xxxxx is the upcoming film sequel to XXX, is directed by DJ Caruso and is written by Rich Wilkes. The film stars Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Toby Leonard Moore, Ruby Rose in her Hollywood debut. The original XXX was a big box office hit in 2002 with an estimated $227 million at the worldwide box office. When it came out in 2002 it made its director DJ Caruso into one of Hollywood's most sought-after directors after his top grossing films Xxx: State of the Union (2005) and Whiteout (2009). The film will focus on Xander Cole's return to his life in L.A after he was presumed dead following a high speed chase in Las Vegas. Recently, Vin Diesel has signed up to star in this sequel. Others who have signed on include Donnie Yen, Toby Leonard Moore and Ruby Rose who has made her Hollywood debut with this film after she previously played Ariel in X-Men Apocalypse (2014). The film is expected to hit theaters in 2017. XXX: The Return of Xander Cage has been in production in and around the Dominican Republic in Sosua and Boca Chica, Santo Domingo. The film was scheduled to be released on January 6, 2017. However, the release date has been pushed back to January 13, 2017. It's being distributed by Paramount Pictures. It will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 28, 2017. Lara Croft of Tomb Raider fame is set to appear in this film according to her Instagram post of her hiking with Vin Diesel.
